This is the third box in a series of five. If you collect all 6 stamps (bonus stamp in box #4), you will have a set of train cars from engine to caboose. You might want to use a full sheet of paper so you can stamp them in a row to create the whole train. They are not handmade stamps, but I hope you will enjoy them. This series is aimed at families as they explore both trains and other aspects of McLean County.

This hunt takes place at the Hidden Creek Nature Sanctuary in Normal. Take either Fell Street to Sycamore and go east, or Linden Street to Sycamore and go west. The sanctuary lies just west of Constitution Trail.

Take the path that begins next to the sign that says “Adopt a Park: Hidden Creek Adopted by Afni”. Head north and stay on the path next to the creek until you reach a bridge over the creek. With your back to the bridge and facing the woods, walk forward and go left at the 'T', then right at the 'Y'. Go down an incline and find a metal bench to sit on.

As you sit, look ahead and slightly to your right to find a large, disintegrating tree stump. Behind this stump lies a large, fallen limb. Walk to the stump, climb over the limb, turn and face the stump again, then look in the middle of the limb where it was broken, forming a “V”. Stand so you are near the “V” and search just to the right/west of this break. Find the box under some pieces of wood within the decaying limb.

This Sanctuary is enjoyed by many people, as is the Constitution Trail above you. Please take care not to be seen getting the box and leave it fully concealed. You might want to take the box across the bridge over to the grassy area where many benches are available for you to sit and stamp privately. There are 4 other boxes with 5 more stamps to be found nearby to complete this train set. Happy Hunting.
