NOTE: this box is located inside Hudson Library, so must be obtained during regular Library hours, which are 10–8 M–Th, 10-6 F, 10–2 Sat, closed Sunday.

This is the 5th box in a series of five. If you collect all 6 stamps (bonus stamp in box #4), you will have a set of train cars from engine to caboose. You might want to use a full sheet of paper so you can stamp them in a row to create the whole train. They are not handmade stamps, but I hope you will enjoy them. This series is aimed at families as they explore both trains and other aspects of McLean County.

I had such fun finding the letterbox in the Galena Public Library, I have hidden one at the Hudson Library. The library is at 104 Pearl Street off of West Street and just west of the Hudson Grade School.

Start in the History Room. Locate the article about the Hudson Train Wreck of 1967 and see a photo of the old Hudson Depot. If you want more information or to see photos of another train disaster that happened where this building now stands, ask the librarian to pull the train file for you. There are excellent photos and stories of a big disaster. Enjoy the other artifacts about the Village of Hudson, which will be 175 years old on July 4, 2011.

Returning to the main library area, look on the walls for a picture titled “The Library Alive” by Eugenia Foster. Explore this fun section of the library. Then, with your back to the picture, look for a red Exit sign and go through that door.

Find a picture on a wall showing “The Hudson Library on Shiner Street”, Hudson's first library. Move two windows to the right. Look past the large plant to the bookcase on the distant wall. Go to this area.

On the bookshelves, look for a green book titled “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” by Earnest Hemmingway. Do not open it until you are somewhere you will not be seen. You have found the 5th box and 6th stamp of this series, the caboose. Good job!
