The Justin Brindley Mountain Bike Trail at Sugar Land Memorial Park provides exciting challenges for beginner to intermediate riders as it winds along the Brazos River for 1.5 miles. The trail honors Justin, a Sugar Land resident and outdoor enthusiast who died in a rafting accident, and is located in an area often used by him for outdoor recreation during his youth. The trail is only for bikes so this box is not on it, but I highly recommend bringing your bike and trying it out. Justin lived by the philosophy adopted from a Ralph Waldo Emerson saying: “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”, and I would like to think he would approve of a letterbox being placed near his trail.
Directions:
From Hwy 59 in Sugar Land, go south on University Blvd about 1 mile to the intersection with Commonwealth Blvd and turn right into Sugar Land Memorial Park. Go 3/4 around the traffic circle and head south, away from the pond and pavilion, and park in the lot at the end.
Clues:
Go south to the gravel path loop and follow it counter-clockwise about 200 yards to the Justin Brindley Bike Trail entrance. Go to the first bench on the right dedicated to Helen & Howard Brindley. Go to the tree 2 steps behind the bench and find the microbox at back base under a rock and leaves. Please replace as described and be discreet.
