Worth 5 miles of rough back country road.
Hand carved stamps.
Let us know the condition of the boxes.
Kentucky Camp served as the headquarters for the Santa Rita Water and Mining Co until 1904. The buildings are being restored by volunteers. There is a museum with some interesting info. and a cabin available for rental. Contact the Forest Service for rental and handicapped access information.
There many side roads and camp sites on the way. Follow the signs to Kentucky Camp.
On Rte. 83, between mile marker 37 & 38. about 4 miles north of Sonita there is a sign for Gardner Canyon and Kentucky Camp. Turn in an stop at the big pull-off on the right. Look north to a multi-trunk tree and you will find the box under debris and rocks.
Return to F.S. road 163 and continue to Kentucky Camp. At the Y , is a left to the Abby, right to Kentucky Camp. A short distance down the road is a Private Property sign. Before entering pull off to the right where you will see big tree with a 3 foot diameter trunk. North of the big tree about 20 feet is a smaller one where the box is hiding.
Continue on 163 to Kentucky Camp. Park and look for the corner post of the wire fence. The box is behind the corner post just inside the fence covered by rocks and stuff. The road to the site will probably be locked but the man gate will be open so you can walk down to explore the camp. Don't be fooled by the chain on the gate. It doesn't lock the man gate.

The first 2 boxes must have been destroyed or taken. The 3rd is O.K. Still a nice ride. (7/1/15) We will try to re-hide the first 2 boxes soon.
