Distance & Time: 5.1 miles; 2.5 - 3 hours if finding all 3 Everest boxes on the loop.
Terrain: Dirt trail through mostly wooded area with some typical moraine inclines & declines.
Starting Point: Picnic area on K.M. Drive, about midway between Hwy 67 and Hwy T.
We created 3 Everest-themed boxes for the Dead of Winter II event in Rockford, IL on 15-JAN-11. The boxes were only temporary plants at the event, so we have now found a permanent home for them. You can look for 1, 2, or all 3 boxes on the trail loop that is the color of Wisconsin’s state flower.
We highly recommend that you first find the Ed Viesturs box, then continue on for this one.

However if you are just looking for this one, use this info to start:
From the small parking lot, head towards the pit toilets. You’ll soon see two trails to the southwest – although Everest is certainly icy, your journey today is not on the IAT. Take the multi-hued path instead. Continue following the trail loop that is the color of Wisconsin’s state flower until you pass the “Camp” 1 marker.

You’ll soon cross paths with the trail for the Sherpa’s horses and powered snow vehicles. However you will continue on the noble trail for a long trek, staying left at a fork and leaving the verdant trail behind. Eventually you will come to “Camp” 2 and then pass two benches if you need a rest. Next you may notice a “crevasse” on your right, but luckily the trail doesn’t require you to cross it! If it is winter, you may notice a frozen lake on your left as you descend a hill. After skirting the crevasse, you’ll reach “Camp” 3 and then you can take a well-earned break at the next bench on your right. While you are recuperating, use your compass to take a bearing of 125° and then make a short journey over to find a memento of this section of the trail nestled in the lap of the 7 sisters. Please replace it well so it is hidden from view.
Well, if you made it this far, you might as well continue on to stalk the elusive Yeti!
