On this journey you will find your way to the Sheepfold Entrance on Fellsway West in Stoneham - just off of route 93. Drive past a small parking area on the right and continue to the main parking lot. You will see a huge clearing in front of you. Just as you enter the field take the small trail on your right. Go uphill and meet up with the paved road. Take a left at the Y and continue on the paved road with the clearing on your left, when you're almost at clearing's end, take a right at the trail toward Bear Hill Tower. Pass the old fountain on your left and continue downhill. Take a left onto the rocky road (there is a cement bridge on your right – take note of if because you will see it again). You’re now on your way toward Bear Hill Tower. Continue for quite a while on Bear Hill Road while it winds, then goes up and downhill. As the path levels off, look to your left at 340 degrees and you will see a sign that reads “Mountain Bike Loop (the green trail).” Continue on the green trail as it goes downhill. You will go straight through a small 4-way intersection on your way down. Once you reach a large 4-way intersection - take a sharp left onto Dike Road. When you see the "Dike Road" sign stop, then continue 23 steps and look left. You will see an oddly shaped tree whose root is bent over a boulder. Stretch & scream out a Chewbacca inspired yell! Chewy is hibernating on the eastern side of the tree.

To get home continue on Dike Road. You will pass tbe Skyline Trail steps (beautiful hike for a later day) on your left – stay straight. Take Reservoir Trail on the left and follow the beautiful and winding “Orange” trail for quite some time. You’re almost home. Follow Reservoir Trail until a Y where it bends right – Go left then an immediate right. Soon you will see a familiar sight. Take a right before the cement bridge and you’re back where your journey began.
