Note: May Day 2011; Landscape has been changed a little, Panda and the Poo box must have been put out with the trash. A new stamp, carved by D-girl, has replaced this box and it is called "All that is left is the poo!"

The Rio Grande Zoo is a facility of the Albuquerque Biological Park. Founded in 1927, the 64-acre Rio Grande Zoo offers visitors close encounters with more than 250 species of exotic and native animals. Popular species include seals and sea lions, chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, elephants, polar bears, giraffes, hippos, camels, tamarins, koalas, Mexican wolves, mountain lions, monkeys, jaguars, zebras and rhinoceros. Walking distance through the zoo is about 2.25 miles.

One animal that is not in the zoo is the Giant Panda and neither is the Panda and the Poo Letter Box. It is located in the Zoo’s parking lot.

To find box: go to the lobo at the entrance of the zoo and face the ticket booth area, turn right into the parking lot and go down 7 light post to the corner shaped planter. There are 3 large rocks in this planter between post 7 and post 8. The box is under the middle rock on the side closest to post 8.

Of course this is a busy place so keep an eye out for the security on bikes watching the lot. Do a good job at REHIDATION =) and enjoy the Zoo if you do go in, it is a Great Place.
