A wonderful old church building, the Westminster Congregational Church was established in 1770. It is located on Rt. 14, between the Scotland and Canterbury town lines. The old church yard contains many of the area’s Rev. War soldiers, and their family members. You will also find former pastors of the church, including the Rev. Asa King, as well as his first wife Eunice and Leroy Cleveland. Also buried there is Sherebiah Butts, builder of the church (along with his 7 sons).

To find this box, go to the churchyard (cemetery) located next to the church. Walk straight back to the back stone wall. Count three headstones from the left corner. Look for the headstones for “Nathan” and “Polly”. They may be a little difficult to read, but still noticeable. At ground level of the stone wall, near these names, look for a loose cover stone. There you will find the box that you seek.
