This is a burial ground series. All the burial grounds are within a 2 mile drive of each other. Also, you will be going into 3 towns,Dighton,Swansea and Rehoboth. I have placed 7 boxes,6 of them have a stamp and ink pad only. The last box has the logbook, stamp, pen and ink. All the boxes are on the right side of the road. Box #3 and #7 have a very short walk to the burial ground. Traveling east from Rhode Island on Rt. 44, take a right onto Williams St. Traveling west from Taunton, take a left onto Williams St. From Sharps Lot Rd ,Swansea, take a right onto Williams st. If you came from Rt. 44, you are looking for Araujo Farms Nursery on the right. It's about 3-4 miles from Rt.44. Pass by it and look for Wellington St on the right also! Pass 2 houses after you've gone by Wellington St. to the 1st burial ground. There is a fire hydrant in front of this burial ground! It abutts a field that is just after the 2nd house. If you come to a sign on the left that reads,L.Catabia, you have gone slightly too far. Please park off the road and enter the burial ground by the front gate. Go to the fallen tree in the back of cemetery.Notice how the tree placed itself between the 2 headstones,WOW!!! Look to the left, notice a headstone leaning against the wall. Look about 1 foot to the right of it and box#1 is hidden behind a stone in the middle of the wall. Continue on Williams 1.1 miles to Box#2. Find Polly Jones headstone, with your back towards it,look at the left side of the entrance. Box#2 is under the 5th top flat stone. Continue to the 1st black mailbox or pole #21 on the right. Park just after the pole on the shoulder. You can use the driveway on the right to get to the cemetary! The homeowner gave permission for us to use it! The gate is in the wall on your left at the end of the driveway. Find Sally W.,wife of Sylvanus Jones. Crouch down facing the wall behind you and Box#3 will be at eye level. Continue on Williams about 3/10's of a mile. Park in front of the burial ground. Please do not let children lean on headstones as they are loose,Thank you. Now,find Fitch Weed's headstone.( Too funny!!!) Notice a small white stone in front of it. Placing yourself 1 step away from that stone, facing it, Box#4 is at 3 o'clock in the wall to your right, about 8 inches up from the bottom. Continue to a stop sign. Go straight, this is now Baker Road. This next burial ground is about 1.5 miles from to the 4th
burial ground. This box has gone missing and will be replaced soon! Look for updates! As of Feb,26th,2012 It's back!!! Park off the road and enter thought a wide opening in front. Find Lavina Chace, notice a white stone on your left at grass level. Stand halfway between it and Lavina's, turn towards the wall and box #5 is in the small cinder block on the ground in front of you. Please make sure you rehide this well. Continue about half a mile to the next burial ground. Park in front of the stone wall. This one has 4 steps up to the graves. Find a small headstone with the intitials,I.F.F. Stand facing it, looking at the wall, Box#6 is slight left of 12 o'clock 6-8 inches from bottom hiding behind a triangle stone. Continue on Baker Rd., go by Purchase St which is on the right. Now, notice the trees on your right. As soon as they end, please park on the edge of the road. Walk along the right side of this field, it brings you the the last burial ground. I do have permission to go here! There is a white sign on a large tree that reads, Rehoboth Historic cemetery #48. Standing in the entrance to the burial ground you should be in-line with the front row of graves. Find the one that reads,In memory of Mr. William Case. With your back to the headstone, you will see box #7 slight right under top stone. Please rehide well and enjoy yourself!! A 1st finder gift! Buy a drink!!! Please e-mail if any boxes need help,Thank you!. I am adding 2 more boxes on Williams St. LOOK FOR THEM SOON!!!! Box #3 has been replaced with new stamp and ink. It went missing early June but has found its way back! This letterbox and all of Karen's critters boxes will be removed at the end of June-2015.
