Directions to Ravenswood: From Rt. 128 Exit 14, take Rt. 133 East toward Gloucester for 3 mi. until it ends at Rt. 127. Turn right and follow for 2 mi. to entrance

A map will be extremely helpful for this series. Sometimes there are some available at the entrance, otherwise you can download one here:

For best results, print the map in landscape format.
You will need to bring your own ink. There are logbooks at each of the boxes. The series is about 3 miles long.

Begin your journey at the main entrance to Ravenswood on Rt. 127. From the main entrance, follow the main trail until you come to intersection 1. At intersection 1, take a left onto the Magnolia Swamp trail. Follow this trail until you come to the top of a rocky outcropping where a large semi-balanced boulder rests. From here, the trail turns to the right of the boulder and begins to go downhill. Follow the trail as it winds downhill. As you come to your first valley, you will see a large, V-shaped tree on your left about 6 steps off the trail. From base of the tree, take 15 steps at 200º to a medium sized boulder. On the west side of the boulder, you'll find Page wearing his favorite “Lawn Boy” shirt.

Head back to the trail and continue in the direction you were traveling. You will go uphill and then down and eventually come to intersection 4. Stay on the Magnolia Swamp trail and go straight across the intersection. Next you will travel across a long boardwalk and then travel along the edge of the Magnolia Swamp. Travel along this trail and then cross a second boardwalk. Proceed about 50 yards from the end of the second boardwalk and you will come across the fallen Inca Rock Warrior (wearing a green hat when it's not snowing) guarding a boulder garden. Continue 28 steps past the Rock Warrior and then stop when you come to the oddly curved, mossy tree trunk on your left. Find Fishman (looking for his Electrolux in his favorite dress) nestled under the left side of the trunk

Continue along the Magnolia Swamp trail to intersection 14(the next intersection). Take a right and cross the boardwalk and continue up to intersection 15. Take a left onto Old Salem Road and follow it to intersection 20. Take a right onto Evergreen Road. On Evergreen Road, you will see a rock wall that starts on the right side of the trail and then continues on the left side. Continue on and you will see a second wall on your left. Where this second wall meets the trail, you will see a tree. From this tree, take 12 steps north to a mossy boulder with a tree growing on it. From this boulder, take 15 steps east to a larger boulder. On the northeast side of the boulder, you'll find Mike playing “his” song.

Return to the trail and continue to intersection 19. Bear right at 19 and continue on to 18 (very close to 19). At 18 turn left onto Quarry Road.
(*For a more challenging hike, don't go left at exactly 18, but take the very next left almost immediately after 18, across from the 17 post. You'll see it on the map. When you get to intersection 10, take a right and then follow the directions from after 10 below. Be sure to follow the detour to the left of large fallen tree on this trail*).
After the left at 18(original directions), continue upon Quarry Road and then take a right when you see the large Turtle Head (12). Continue and then bear right at 11. When you come to intersection 9, go straight and right past the sign. You will head uphill to a bench (marked as a Scenic Vista on the map) and then continue past it. Continue straight on the same trail at 10. The trail will begin to wind and descend downhill, level out briefly and then begin to wind and descend downhill again. At the second descent you will see that you are entering a huge boulder garden. Stop when you come to a large boulder laying just on the edge of the left side of the trail. On your right, you will see a huge, sculpturesque, boulder with an “amphitheater” stage on its left side. Hopefully you have the rest of the band with you. You'll find Trey tuning up backstage, just inside the cave on the west side of the huge boulder.

To return to your car, continue on the same trail. Go straight past intersection 6 and then bear right at 5 (stay on the Ledge Hill Trail the whole time). Proceed along the trail and straight through intersection 3 all the way to intersection 1. Go left at 1 and follow the Old Salem Road back to the parking area.

Big thanks to the Drew for his help with the plant!!!
