HISTORY:
Virginia was the daughter of affluent parents who owned a tobacco plantation in South Carolina. She grew up amongst her many brothers and sisters and enjoyed a happy content childhood. She dreamt of having her own family one day and being like her beautiful mother who radiated love. As she bloomed into womanhood she caught the eye of a young handsome doctor. She wed and they made plans to move to the Texas territories to start their own family and build their empire. Life was very rough in Texas and there never seemed to be an end to the patients her husband cared for, much of the time enlisting Virginia’s aid to care for the sick. The years passed and Virginia was never to bear a child of her own. As time passed her sadness increased, she helped so many women give birth but were yet to be a mother herself.

To pass the time Virginia often rode horseback to the remote farms in the Florence area to bring medicines or care for those who could not travel to see her husband. One day as she was riding, something spooked her horse and she fell, the limestone rocks breaking her limbs and knocking her unconscious. When she awoke she could not move and was alone and in pain. She lay there for many hours and gave up hope that she would be saved. She mourned the life she was losing and the children she would never bear. As night approached, she saw the image of a dark-haired woman appear before her. Virginia asked, “are you death who has come for me?”. The woman answered in a slight French accent, “No, I am not death, I am life eternal. Will you join me?” Virginia nodded in assent and she was born again into immortality.
