Acorn Park is a 25 acre park located off of McGee Road in beautiful Franklin Park Township. Most of this park is a natural area having been untouched for over 100 years. Hiking, equestrian, and mountain bike trails traverse most of this park allowing park users to access all areas of the park. The entrance area of the park provides a deck hockey area, a unique playground, and picnic tables.
Acorn Park can be found on Google Maps, or from I-79 take the Wexford Bayne Exit/Rt 910 and head West on Wexford Bayne. Turn Left at Nicholson Road (by Carmody's Restaurant). Follow Nicholson Road for 1.8 miles. Go through 4 way stop sign (at Rochester Rd.) and make the 1st immediate Right on Locust Rd. Take to the end of the road and turn Left on Magee Rd. Acorn Park will be on your right about 100 yards.
The entrance to the trail you will follow is located past the playground on your right hand side (marked with a pink ribbon on a tree.) From the beginning of the trail, go 25 average child sized steps where you will come to a Y in the trail. Follow the path that goes to the left another 110 steps down the trail. You will come to a "Long/Short" sign. Turn Right here and follow the path 55 steps down the hill. At the end of your steps you will see a downed tree....there is a hole at the base of the tree. Move the rock to find the Acorn Park letterbox and stamp!!
Thanks for visiting...and remember to return everything where you found it.
Look for 2 other letterboxes in the parks in Franklin Park at Blueberry Hill Park and Linbrook Park!!
