From Kewanee, take Hwy 78 to the place named in the picture, J0hns0n Saul< Trail Stat3 Parl<.

One of the most unique features of this location is the large, round barn. Round barns originally were built by religious groups because they "left no corners in which the devil could hide." This one, however, was built in 1910 by Dr. Laurence Ryan for his Black Angus show cattle.

One of the largest round barns in the country, it stands more than 80 feet high and is 85 feet in diameter. This is a “true-round” barn (most round barns are actually polygonal). The barn even has a full-size 16-foot wide silo inside! Today the barn houses a large display of antique machinery and artifacts of farm days past. (It is open for visitors afternoons of the first, third and fifth Sundays of each month from May through October.)

Find the barn and check it out.

When finished, hop in your car and take "Lakeshore Loop" (this is just south of the barn) until you get to Singing bird picnic area. Park, check out the view of the lake and then locate Sauk Trail. Take Sauk Trail and after a short walk, you'll come to a narrow no-name trail on the left (this little trail heads to the outhouse). Don't take this trail, instead continue on 13 steps to a deer path on the right. Take this path into the woods about 13 steps to a large tree with a couple slightly modified trucks. Tucked behind the tree and between two rocks is the lb.
