Nature Club #2

This part of Mobbly Bayou Wilderness Preserve is located behind Bicentennial Park in Oldsmar, FL. If you brought along a canoe or kayak there’s a little dock where you can put-in. Swimming, however, is not recommended due to alligators in the ponds and bayou.

To get to this part of Mobby Bayou, drive to Bicentennial Park at 423 Lafayette Blvd, Oldsmar FL 34677. When you enter the park, stay straight on the road – driving past the tennis courts which will be on your right. When the road becomes gravelly you will be entering Mobbly Bayou Wilderness Preserve. Follow the road as it turns right to go around the pond. You will see a large mural-painted water tower up ahead on the left. The road turns left just past the water tower and you will see a parking lot to park in near the playground.

To begin your search start at the top of the Tree House Tower on the playground.

Go down 2 sets of stairs in a South-Westerly direction.

Now look South-East to find The Stump Seat and walk to it.

Follow the grassy path South-South-East towards the woods.

When you come to a stand of trees-- stay to the right.

Continue South-East and then West until you come to a wooden bridge. Count the number of posts on the bridge (remember that number.)

Now look for the metal climbing structure with the same number of rungs as the posts on the bridge. Walk to that climbing structure. You will see a sidewalk just past the climber.

From here, follow the sidewalk South-East for about 120 paces. You will pass 3 benches (first green, then blue, then red).

After the red bench, continue along the sidewalk about 12 more paces. You should now be on the sidewalk between two palmettos.

Go North-East up a little hill, about 10 paces. Look left. The letterbox is tucked inside a palmetto stump!

Enjoy the rest of your day at Mobbly Bayou Preserve!

If you’re still in a Letterboxing mood, there is another Letterbox hidden nearby – on the Bicentennial Park side of the park. It is called Nature Club #1.
