Saturday Nite's menu was always Hot Dogs and Beans. With 5 kids and a Dad who worked in a factory, that was all Mom could afford at the end of the week. We loved it cause Dogs on a bun were a classic. Sunday mornings, Dad used the leftovers to make his famous Hot Dog omelette (beans on the side, optional). Recently, when Mom entered the hospital for an extended stay, we all worried about what Dad would eat. “Just buy me some hot dogs and a dozen eggs and I’ll be good to go!”, he said. We knew he’d be ok cause he had lots of practice. Thanks for the memory, Mom!!
To get your treat, proceed to Harwall & Granville Roads. Find the cannon, then go down the wooden stairs. Head 11 o'clock to the stumps. You dog is in the Left stump under some bark. How do you like it? With Ketchup, mustard, relish or plain? Enjoy!
I used to live a couple of blocks away on Masefield Rd. My sibs and I used to spend hours here, 45 years ago, at the "Cannon Park" catching crayfish and playing hiding go seek.
