Hike difficulty: paved part is very easy; dirt part of trail is slightly moderate, it is rocky, there is a small steep uphill portion, and there is a short rocky off-trail portion at the end.

This letterbox is in Sabino Canyon Recreation Area (USFS) a little northeast of Tucson. Take Tanque Verde Road east. Turn north on Sabino Canyon Road and take it all the way to entrance of Sabino Canyon Recreation Area on your right. There is a fee to park (if you do not have an appropriate national recreation pass or annual pass).
From the parking lot walk northeast to the paved Sabino Canyon Road. Walk northeast on the road going up the hill, through the “pass”, and down the other side into Sabino Canyon. Look for the trailhead on the left for the Rattlesnake Trail (it is across the road from the first restrooms on the right). Walk west on the Rattlesnake Trail. Go to the third crossing of the wash (this “third crossing” is not actually a true crossing – the trail goes into the wash from the left, goes along the left side of the wash, and exits on the left side of the wash). From this “third crossing” turn around and go back on the trail for about 27 steps. Look to your right for a tall Saguaro Cactus about 12 steps off the trail. It has about 6 arms – the arms on its right side are smaller and curved and twisted. To the left of this Saguaro is a large rounded boulder with an Ocotillo behind it. The box is under the backside of this boulder under a flat rock covered with twigs and other plant debris. And, of course, be very alert for rattlesnakes!
Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please screw the lid on tight. Please rehide the box well under the rock and covered with twigs and other plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
