*North Guilford, CT(This Series will be here for the month of October and
then will be pulled until next Halloween)*

*Twas a dark and eerie Halloween and the ghosts were gathering in Guilford.
Why don’t we hide in Braemore Park where things in the night go bump? Good
idea, said Boo, the Ghost,I’ll hide in a stump, the first on your right,
twas a crabby old tree but it’s just right for me…and off he went to the
stump.*
OK, so what that translates in non-ghost language is: Enter the trailhead
at the meadow, as you follow the trail into the woods, look for the first
dead tree stump on your right. Yup, that’s it !

Now head on up the *Blue Rectangle- Red dot trail…on your right*. Up, up…
stop and take a breather if you must…till you come to *the intersection of
the Blue Rectangle-Red dot and the Red trail.*

*Go 6 steps straight to the Spider’s Web but don’t get caught in her snare,
she’s a sweet old thing and will give up her prize if only some children
will dare.*
Those 6 steps up are on the blue rect-red dot trail and the letterbox is on
the left of the trail. The* Creepy Spider* is hidden under the rock between
2 moss covered slabs of granite.

After stamping in, face the intersection as you came in- take the *Red
Trail* to your *right (southerly direction). Follow the Red Trail* for a
while, and another while…ho, hum and finally you come down the hill to a *T*
with a sign that says* Reid’s View to the right.* Go that-a-way … now walk* 6
blazes of red rect. with yellow dot ( the 4th has a set of 2)*

*The Braemore Witch is on your right-look at the rock and you’ll see her
profile with only one tooth….*
Ok parents, so you’ve got to imagine the old Crone is there. We lovely
crones certainly saw her-so, look hard and point her out to the kids. Now
don’t go running out to the rock…someone may fall off and never be seen
again. We were nice and planted the letterbox right off the trail 3 steps
and under a moss covered rock ledge- *just before the 6th blaze on the
tree.*

Continue on up to Reid’s View for a good look around and perhaps a respite
with Poland Springs and some watercress sandwiches…sure, get real…break out
the gorp and pretend you and the kids are eating bugs…it’s almost
Halloween, remember ?? And while you are sitting there, you say to the
kids… “Remember the Witch’s Hat ? And under the HAT was the tail of a cat,
I’ll bet that’s what the next letterbox is- a Cat in a Hat”…oop’s that’s
the wrong story for this holiday….oh, well…Dr. Seuss, forgive us. Break’s
OVER- let’s get moving troops !

*Retrace* your steps* back to the T keeping the sign for Reid’s View on
your right. Continue straight* on the Red trail and *when you come
immediately to the junction (fork) (T) whatever it is, go left* on the
*Triangle
red dot Trail.* *At the intersection of the Yellow Trail, go right on the
Yellow Trail 13 steps to the BAT HOUSE. It’s hidden on your left next to
the trail in between a rock crevice.*
Ok, so it wasn’t a cat, it was a bat- can you handle that ??? Be glad it
wasn’t a fat rat….

*Retrace those 13 steps to the Triangle-Red Dot Trail and stay on it till
you come to the intersection of the RED and triangle dot yellow. Make a
left on the RED TRAIL*. When you come to the *stone wall*, Jackson, on your
left, look for the letterbox hiding under the stones-white quartz giveaway.
Aren’t you glad we included THAT particular letterbox…we knew you would be
happy at last, little Gloria…

Continue on the trail and* make a right *when you come to the
*Blue-Red Dot Trail. Go down the hill-does it look FAMILIAR ??- it
should-every witch knows it’s FAMILIAR….get it ? On your left is a large
rock formation and your last trick or treat is hidden in the large crevice
of that formation.* Taaaadaaaa, you did it- the Monsters didn’t stop you.
You are #1 in our book.

We hope you have had a safe and happy and, of course, *very frightening
journey through the Braemore Witch’s Enchanting Land of Halloween.
Wuhahahahhhaa !!*
