Before you head out to Foothill Regional Park outside Windsor to find the Uneasy Lies the Head Letterbox find the trail map for this Sonoma County Regional Park. Locate the spot where the elevation is a grand 425 feet. The info. may also be on the map at the beginning of the trail in the parking area as well but I can’t remember. Be prepared to pay $6 for parking and park maintenance or park outside and walk in.

"The House of Windsor is the current royal house of the Commonwealth realms. It was founded by King George V by royal proclamation on the 17 July 1917, when he changed the name of his family from the German Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the English Windsor, due to the anti-German sentiment in the United Kingdom during World War I. Currently, the most prominent member of the House of Windsor is Elizabeth II, the reigning monarch of the Commonwealth realms."

OK. Hit the trail and when you reach the Jura F. Mead bench sit down and relax. After your nice rest get up and face the bench. Make a 90 degree turn to the left and take a couple steps back down the trail. Make another 90 degree turn right and note the little trail going up. Walk up this trail and pass the “Boundary Park” sign for another 34 steps. On your right should be a mulit-trunked oak. Reach into the crotch of the tree, lift off the rock and possible debris and lift out the Uneasy Lies the Head Letterbox.

Thanks for coming! It’s essential that you replace the box making everything look natural and undisturbed and that the box is well hidden.
