This is a rather easy box to find and is a short hike. The terrain is slightly difficult since there are loose rocks and a hill. It is 1/4 mile walking distance roundtrip.
From the North part of the state:Take Route 2 East to Exit 27 Yantic/Willimantic Exit. Turn right off the exit ramp and follow signs for Route 32. Continue on Route 32 through Franklin and enter into North Franklin. Turn right at the light for Route 207. Pass Franklin Elementary on your left and soon after you will see sports fields. Turn right into a dirt parking lot for the recreational park. Park in the dirt lot. Walk towards the playground, swingset and covered picnic table pavillion. Walk between the pavillion and the metal swings. Go straight towards the baseball field fence. Walk 10 feet along the fence and notice a path on your left. This is a highly traveled walkway so it should be easy to spot. Turn left down this path and walk slowly since there are many loose rocks. When approaching the bottom, pay close attention to the scenery on the right. There are some rocks placed in a pile and the letterbox is hidden underneath. If you reach the bottom and get to the red barn/shed, you've gone too far. Please be extra careful replacing the box and staying out of view from the public who frequent the area. This is a classroom project and the students will be keeping track of all of the towns that our visitors are from. Please indicate your town, date of arrival, and stamp. We all hope you enjoy your searching!!
