Park at the Pleasant Hill Dam parking lot.
Find the trailhead to Lyons Falls, near the information sign. Follow this trail.
When the trail turns, follow the sign and go to the right.
Next to the trail, on the left, look for a large tree with a curved trunk, covered with moss and fungus.
Just past this curved tree, you will find a large downed tree which was once across the path but has now been cut. The tree section on the right side of the path is hollow. Stand by the hollow end, facing up the hill to the right, and you will see the split part of the stump where the tree fell.
Walk along the downed, hollow tree to the split stump. From the split stump, continue up the hill about 5 more paces.
Turn to your right 45 degrees. Face northeast.
Walk about 35 paces to a hemlock tree with a hole about 2 1/2 feet from the ground on the southwest side of the tree. You will find the letterbox in the hole.
