We hid this with my Wolf Cub Scout Den. They had a lot of fun. It was a perfect hike for boys!

I tried to locate specific directions/address for this online, but couldn't. Here in Oakley, we don't go by street addresses, and apparently, the WWW doesn't know much of this exists.

Anyway, if you are coming from the north (Park City, Coalville, Ogden, etc.), you will enter Oakley via SR 32. When you see the big brown sign directing you to turn to go to Smith & Morehouse, turn. The Road Island Diner is on the corner of this street. Follow this road for awhile. After the houses start to disappear, the road bends around the mountain. Shortly afterward, ON your RIGHT, you will see an intersection with a street sign entitled, PINION LANE. Turn right (your only option). Follow this road for awhile. Eventually, in the distance, you will see a lone tan metal building on your right. Shortly before you reach this building, there will be a dirt road to your left. Turn here. Don't second guess yourself. There is only one dirt road. Go to the top and park in the roundabout.
If you are coming from the south (Heber, Provo, etc.), you will go through Kamas and head north. You will drive through the next community, Marion. There is an LDS Church house on the right. Keep going. Just as you are leaving Marion and entering Oakley, the road bends. There is a turning lane on the right. TAKE THIS. At the stop sign, turn right. **If you miss the turn, you're OK. Take a right at the next intersection (Elk Meadows Assisted Living is on the left). When you get to the stop sign, go straight instead of turning right.** You will be on Boulderville Road. This eventually turns into Pinion Lane. Follow this for awhile. Eventually, you will see a tan metal building on the left. Just past this, on your right, is a dirt road. Turn RIGHT onto the dirt road and follow to the end. Park.

You're here (at the trail)!

Let's begin. Enter the trail via the trailhead. When you come to the fork in the road, choose LEFT. Follow this. You will pass sections of rock, and sections of dirt path lined with beautiful mountain flowers and vegetation. You will most likely see the Camas flower lining the trail. It is easily distinguished by its multiple purple bell like flower on each stem. These flowers come in many shades of purple, some almost looking blue. The first settlers of the Kamas Valley ate the roots of these flowers during the harsh winters.

Just enjoy the walk. Eventually, you will come to another section of rock. As you climb, you will see to your left what appears to be a rock dock. Someone spent a lot of time making this. Don't wreck it! It is pretty cool. There are two rock chairs nestled in a dock. You might even find the rock art next to the armrest of the north chair. Sit and rest yourself. This is also a perfect view of the valley.

Addendum: 4/22/20. The rock dock has been destroyed. You can still see remnants; however, it is not as easily identified. Just remember that the box is located when you reach the second section of rock. Cast your eyes down on the rocks and then north. You should see trees.

Look for a BIG Pine tree. The letterbox is located under a large flat rock at the northwest base of the tree. When rehiding the box, please make sure that it cannot be seen from the dock or the way you entered. Thanks and Happy Letterboxing!

PS: The trail doesn't stop at the rock dock. It is quite pretty and full of surprises. It does begin to climb, though, but well worth it.
