Park at the Durfee Hill Management Parking Lot on Rt 94, near Rt 44. Walk past deer check station and follow the trail into the woods towards the pond.
The path will sort of parallel a stone wall downhill. Near the bottom, you’ll notice giant craters to your left. As the path turns to the left, you’ve come to the second crater- climb down slightly into it and stand on the rock there. The rock will point away from the pond and point you towards your treasure!
Follow the rock’s direction and walk down into the crater, then back up the other side. You’ve come to a big tree – look under the roots to the left, and behind the rocks you’ll find what you seek!
When you’re finished, please put the rocks back & disguise it well. You can then either go across the field of grass to find the trail and small walking bridge that will take you on a nice easy hike around the pond, or you can turn and head back to your car.
Beware of ticks and hunters!!!
