Cowboys thrived during the 1800’s. Rustling up cattle, singing songs, telling tales, and putting in a hard day’s work was a cowboy's life. To follow the trail of a cowboy, turn off of Stacy Rd. onto Hay Stack. Turn right on Bountiful Grove and continue to Scare Crow. This is where his travels began - at the corner of Bountiful Grove and Scare Crow. Head down the trail and stop at the yoke of oxen to see a neat plow. Walk to the windmill. Windmills like this one can be used for pumping water, either as a source of fresh water from wells, or for draining low-lying areas of land. More commonly today, windmills are used as a source of electric energy. Come to a fork in the trail and take a left. Next take a sharp right. If you wish, have a good old cowhand BBQ. If not, turn left for a place to rest. Continuing on past the old wooden water tower, right through the gap in the fence, follow the fence line 'till you find another gap in the fence, and enter through. This is where the trail gets longer. Journey down the trail 'till you find a ford across the stream. Stop here. If you're back where you have already traveled you’ve gone too far. When you find the spot, look to your left and spot a cedar tree, and “Yahoo!” you’ve found what you’re looking for!
