Directions: From 295N take Exit 22 Durham/Freeport. Turn right onto Route 125/136 (Mallett Road). From the curve in the road follow Route 136 for approximately 3 miles to Grant Road. Turn right on Grant Road for .7 miles to arrive at a pull off on the south side of the road. Drive slowly on the first half mile of this road as it is full of heaves!

You may need: Orange vest in season, boots in early spring.

You may like to know: This is a short loop trail.

Clues: Begin walking straight ahead on the path. When you arrive at a 3-way intersection, make your way over to a white pine standing at 330 degrees. Behind and right of it is a stand of white birch. You will find the box at the bottom right of the pine under needles, bark, sticks and more needles. Please when replacing the box, cover it the same way.

Choices: You can turn around and head back to your car, or complete the loop by continuing straight; you might want to take the short path down to the pond before deciding on either of these options.

Extra Note: The kiosk had a small paper stating the walk to the pond takes about 10 minutes. It also mentions another spot in the area called Florida Lake.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
