Make your way to the rest area just past mile marker 271 on I-80, facing the front door of the rest area turn left (west) and find the nature trail. Walk approximately 30 steps down the trail and there will be a small trail going off to the left. Go on that trail and walk until you reach a standing dead tree (about another 30 steps) from this tree spy a tree stump straight ahead the Iowa Oak is hidden under a piece of bark at the base of the stump.
