Enjoy a stimulating walk through Penn's Wood and take in all the beauty and wonder nature can provide while seeking this elusive letterbox. You may want to take a picnic lunch with a little vino in your backpack for some added enjoyment! This is not a long trek... so take your time and observe all of nature's wonders.
Begin by traveling down Route 30 ...east through Ligonier and Laughlintown to Laurel Mt. or west on 30 through Jennerstown to Laurel Mt. When you reach the summit of Laurel Mt., turn onto Laurel Summit Rd. Travel on this road for about a mile until it turns to a dirt road. You will soon come to a building on your left called The Warming Hut...used during winter months to shelter Nordic skiers. There is a parking lot beside the road across from the hut...park there. You will see a sign that says “Loop Trail”. Hike down the trail until you come to a second sign that also says “Loop Trail”. Here the trail intersects with another road. Turn right on to this road and walk until you see a tree with a “blue” mark painted on it. Look to the left at this point and you will see a path that leads to a rock wall. It is an uphill path so be careful. Go about 50 short steps up the hill to the rock wall, turn right and go through (under) the short rock tunnel. Once through, look to the left and at eye level you will see a loose rock that looks like it doesn't belong there. Look behind the rock to locate the box. Please return the box to its hidden location when you stamped the book and feel free to take a dragonfly! Hope you were successful and had a good time during the hunt!
