When our kids were small, every summer we'd take our annual excursion out to North Adams and Mt. Greylock. On each trip, we'd pass several Indian souvenir shops. Our oldest kids dubbed them "Junk Emporiums". Those shops were filled with all kinds of Kitch that little boys loved: tom-toms, rubber spears and tomahawks, t-shirts and the piece la resistance, "Cedar stuff!" The high point of their trip was stopping at one of these 1950s treasure troves. When we'd leave, I loved getting a rise out of them by turning around across the street and heading back towards home, pretending the trip was over. Our youngest would always wail, "Mom, you gotta go the other way! I'd laugh the next five miles 'cause I got them, again! I think the anticipation of their reactions was the high point of my trip!

Find the Indian Junk Emporium with the big Indian and two tepees out front. On the opposite side of Route 2 is a Park-n-Ride and a parking area. Park in the parking area, closest to the Indian, preferably in the first (west) space. Walk along the woods edge to the right. Look behind the first concrete post that is still holding a fence. Be sure to look at the fence opposite the emporium, not the one in front of the parking spaces.
