Take Highway 120 / 108 East of Oakdale to North Stearns road. The Left hand turn is about 1/2 mile east of Kmart. The Oakdale Golf and Country Club will be on your right after making the turn. Continue to the end of the road and park in the parking lot at Kerr Park near the baseball fields. The wilderness trail starts at the North East corner of the park. There is a small sign that says “Stanley Wakefield” wilderness area. Start your hike here. Continue down the dirt path and over a gentle rise where you will come to a fork in the trail. Take the right fork (the left fork will lead you to an opening at the river) and continue until the trail narrows unto a single person path. (note, there may be some brush piled up at the end of the trail, just walk around it and continue on the single path trail)(Brush has been removed as of 03/11/05) At this narrowing walk 70 paces along the narrowed trail. On your right should be a 5 trunk Oak tree. The box is located at the foot of the tree.
