THIS BOX HAS BEEN REMOVED

First the warnings and other stuff…

This box is designed to find in the dark. It may not be possible to find it during the day.

Bring bug spray (The mosquitoes can be bad here)

Please be careful while walking to this box in the dark. There are roots on the trail and some branches and small downed trees following the firetacks.

You will be following firetacks for part of the way. Firetacks are tacks that are stuck on the side of the trees and when you shine your flashlight on them, they reflect an orange light back at you. They work best when you hold the flashlight at eye level.

Please make sure that you have a good strong flashlight.

The firetacks are all placed about 6-7 feet from the ground.

This is a geocache/letterbox hybrid.
Geocaching is similar to letterboxing except people use gps coordinates to find the cache. Instead of a stamp, they trade trinkets, also called swag. For this hybrid, the coordinates take them to the point in the trail where the firetacks start and then they have to also follow the firetacks to the cache/box.

This letterbox is located off of Harris Mountain Rd. in Amherst, Ma. where the M&M trail crosses it. Park on the east side of the road next to the big brown and yellow gate. Walk around the gate and follow the trail (white blazes) for a couple of minutes until you get to a low spot in the trail where there is a cut log on both sides of the trail. As you start going slightly uphill, start looking to your left with your flashlight for the first firetack on a large pine tree. (My firetacks are cubed that reflect orange) Keep following the firetacks, keeping them on your right until you get to a tree with many firetacks on it. The letterbox is hidden on the other side of the tree in the hole from the rootball from the other downed tree. The letter box is a lock-n-lock inside an ammo can geocache. After stamping in, feel free to sign the geocache logbook and if you decide to take something from the cache, please leave something. Please place everything back as you found it and the follow the firetacks back out, keeping them on your left side, to the trail and back to your car.
