These boxes are located at the Trustees of Reservation property “Notchview”. For directions from your location check their website - www.ttor.org. Make sure you check-in inside the Budd Visitor Center. Notchview receives grant funding based on the number of visitors. You may want to check the map located outside and take note of Circuit Trail.
From the Visitor Center head left to Circuit Trail and follow it into the woods and up the hill. At the top of the hill veer right and keep going. Eventually on the left you’ll come to a tree with an arm and a bench in front of it. “Rabbit” is hidden behind the large rock.
Continue on Circuit Trail for quite a ways. At the “T” go right and keep going. At the intersection with Whitestone trail go straight. When you come to a fork veer right and go through the pine forest. Eventually you’ll come to a clearing. Keep walking and soon you’ll see the back side of a wooden shelter. Check the back left corner for “Chickadee.”
Circuit Trail continues by passing in front of the shelter and going right. Heading back into the woods you’ll see a sign for the Visitor Center. Follow it. You’ll walk through another pine forest. Keep going, and eventually you’ll come to the intersection of Quill Tree (on your right) and Circuit. Stop and notice the tree on your left with a colored arrow nailed to it. “Newt” is hidden behind the tree under a rock.
Please be sure to re-hide these boxes carefully! *Note - this hike is 1.8 miles long and sometimes there is some pretty tall grass to walk through. Plan accordingly. Also, there are no ink pads or pens in these boxes so make sure you have those
*Update: "Chickadee" is out of commission until further notice. However, "Rabbit" and "Newt" are fine.
