In Celebration of Halloween 2003!!

Directions to Trailhead:

From Winchester center:
Take Mount Vernon St. from the rotary to the five-way intersection,
where you make a soft left onto Washington St.
Proceed about a mile, then turn right onto Fairmount.
Pass the hospital on your left.
Continue across Highland, where Fairmount becomes Reservoir St.
When Reservoir St. bends right at the reservoir (home
of the dreaded "Swamp Thing"), park on the street
and go to the trailhead, posted with a "Skyline Trail" sign.

From 93:
Take exit 36, Montvale Ave.
Take Montvale west to Washington St. (at a light with Wendy's on the corner).
Left on Washington St.
After about a mile, make a left on Fairmount.

From 128/95:
Take exit 36, Washington St.
Take Washington south for about 3 miles
Make a left on Fairmount.

When You Reach the Trailhead:

Enter Skyline Trail by passing the five zombies
turned to stone (be careful not to wake them!).
Follow the ghost-, goblin-, and pumpkin-colored blazes for about 1/2 mile.
At the major fork, do NOT turn the forbidden left, for
the evil warlock lives there. Nor should you turn right, lest
you meet the feared werewolf. Rather, continue to follow the ghost/pumpkin
blazes by climbing over the back of the sleeping dragon in front of you.
After the dragon, be careful to step over the witches' broomsticks littering the way!
Very shortly, the ghost and pumpkin paths diverge. At this divergence, turn left
90 degrees and walk 20 paces off of the trail.
This should bring you to the subterranean giant's
three fingers - one live one pointing to
the sky, one dead one also pointing to the sky, and another dead one
lying on the ground. The treasure you seek is under the fallen finger, near
where all three meet.
