Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Microbox: About 50 yards

Status of Microbox: Reported missing on 12/28/08, due to trail changes. Not confirmed.

The "Trail Rider" microbox is located in Bastrop State Park. Look at my "Poison Ivy" box clues for more details on the park. This box is near that same area of the park, but on the Historical Nature Trail.

Directions:
Enter the park from Hwy 21, on Park Road 1. At road split after entry station and golf parking, go right on Park Road 1A. Go about 1 mile to parking area in grass on left and right (just past the primative camping area) where "Historical Nature Trail" (sign is on left, but hidden by brush) is located. If you get to the next campground on left you have past it up. Park here.

To the Microbox:(Update - my understanding is the numbered posts are now gone. If so, go to the waterfall and stand near the large rock at the trailside. Turn away from the waterfall and look for the biggest pine tree about 10 feet away on your left.)

Cross the road to Post #5 and sign for "Historic Nature Trail", then go 75 paces into the woods (staying left at trail junction) to the #10 post and waterfall. Turn left and go 13 paces to the #12 post. From #12 post, turn left and go off trail to the right of 2 large pine trees until you reach the 3rd pine tree in this row (9 paces from #12 post). Box is at base of this 3rd pine, at knee level, covered with pine needles and a rock on top. Please replace rock in this manner.
