Inland Empire Series: Rialto
Alive and well as of 5/6/15
The seven Wigwam Motels were built between 1933 and 1949, stretching from Kentucky to California. Three still remain: #2 is in Cave City, KY and #6 is in Holbrook, AZ. The seventh is on the border of Rialto and San Bernardino, along Route 66 on Foothill Blvd.
From the motel, head to the meridian, cross over to Woody's, then head east. As you follow the wall on your right, you will see the occasional alcove, sometimes with trees or shrubs in it. If you stop at an alcove that is just before you are directly across the street from a MOTEL sign with white letters on a red background, then you will find a letterbox in the front left corner, buried in dirt and covered with a red cinder block. If you reach a yellow hydrant, you've gone too far (or not far enough).
These two stamps, "Cowboy" and "Buffalo" were carved by Buffalo Tony. When you are finished, make sure the logbook is sealed in the small bag, and that bag and the stamp are both sealed in the larger bag. Be sure the box is set deep enough in the dirt for the cinder block to cover it and also look naturally set in the dirt, covered in debris.
