Start out at Fannie Stebbins Wildlife Refuge in Longmeadow, Ma. Go by way of Bark Haul Lane. Park along the edge of the road. Take the trail that goes straight off the road (Bark Haul Trail).
1st letterbox “X Marks the Spot”: Take Bark Haul Trail up and around - the pond will be on your right. Go over the train tracks (careful – trains run on this all the time!) When the trail begins after the train tracks walk about 128-180 steps (depending on how big your feet are!) You should see a viney tree on your left. Go off the trail on your left and walk about 18 steps. “X Marks the Spot” will be behind the trunk of this tree.

2nd letterbox “Terminator X”: Go about 100 steps from where you just found the 1st letterbox. On you left will be a big tree with a big trunk. A natural path lies just to the right of this tree. Go on this about 18-23 steps. In the back and around the tree you should see “Terminator X” in a dent in the trunk.

3rd letterbox “Ice Cream”: Now keep going across a stream (may be dried out in summer) and around a bend to your left. A little ways up there will be a path on your right. Go down this path about 14 steps and you will see 2 old cement pilings on your right. “Ice Cream” is under the right cement piling.

4th letterbox “The Very Fancy Box”: Come back out to the main path and keep going, past the electric boxes, through the meadow, until you come to another trail marked “Eliot Section”. From here go about 12 steps and on your left you will see a BIG tree. It has 5 big branches coming out of its trunk. “The Very Fancy Box” will be in the center of this tree.

Enjoy the rest of your hike!
