This stamp is located on Great Misery Island. Great Misery and Little Misery Sland are situated between Marblehead and Manchester Harbors, 0.5 mile off West Beach in Beverly Farms. The island is owned and maintained by The Trustees of Reservations.(www.thetrustees.org)
Daily admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children and is free for Trustees of Reservation members.

The island is accessible only by boat on one of the islands three rocky beaches. This quest will lead you to spectacular overlooks, rocky beaches, grassy fields, and the remains of a former resort. Enjoy the views of Salem Sound and the surrounding North Shore.

A compass will be needed to find the box.

The hike begins at the map kiosk on South Beach, where maps of the island are available.

Stand at the kiosk and begin your quest on the path at 170°.
Continue to a point where Bakers Island and it's Lighthouse are situated in front of you.
Your path will turn towards a heading of 30 degrees.
Continue along the path up and over the second highest point on the island.
Pass a marker placed by the National Geodetic Society,
When the path ends you must turn towards the bearing of 360°.
At the south side of a rocky beach your path will come to an end,
Manchester Harbor and Light are visible as you come around the bend.
Look across the beach with a heading of 3-4-0,
There you can see the path on which you should go.
The path will open up as North Cove comes into sight,
Locals call it "Cocktail Cove".
At the top of the hill follow the line of rocks that seem out of place,
Walk down to the pond with the round ruin in the middle of it.
From here, find the map kiosk at 290° and take 15 paces at a setting of 260 degrees
From there take the northern path until you reach a T.
At this intersection follow the larger stonewall and head up the hill,
Go down some stairs, go left, and up more stairs still.
Enjoy the view from where the luxury resort once stood.
To find your next path stand behind the number four...Follow the path directly in front of you down a hill through a stone-wall,
You will come to the place where a water tower once stood tall.
There are twelve columns. Look for the one with a tiny drill hole in its side.
Stand with your back to the hole and head out 320 degrees
Continue down the hill towards the big multi-trunked tree.
250° degrees from the tree is the heading of the path you follow next.
Head over the hill, and end your quest at the Bleak House ruin.
When you reach the ruin, turn right, head to the old door, as far as the path will allow. Follow the wall to right of the door to its very end. Here you will find a piece of rusty angle iron sticking out of some rubble. The box is located directly beneath this piece of metal under some small rocks.
Please be sure to completely cover the box with small rocks when finished.

After leaving the ruin, take the first turn heading south along the coast of the island. Go right at the fork. The path crosses a small rocky beach. Eventually you will end up right back where the hike started.
