Park in the Rails to Trails parking lot on Copper Hill Rd. in East Granby. Follow the trail going south towards Route 20.
Pass a bench on the right immediately and another bench on the left a ways down with "East Granby Parks and Rec" inscribed on it. Pass the "19.5 m" green sign on the right. A couple hundred feet further down the path (about 4/10 of a mile from where you started on Copper Hill Rd.), look for a bench on the left with a clearing behind it. There is a path leading back from the clearing.
Follow the path for approximately 56 steps. Look for a tree with whitish bark (a birch tree?) on the right, a few feet off the path, with a small stump right next to it. Search the vicinity for our letterbox, planted by Owen, 6, and Lauren, 8. This is an easy one, great for kids! The box is big enough to host hitchhikers.
