Our church came here for our annual All Church Campout. This was the best camping ever, not only did they deliver firewood to my campsite but in the morning they delivered a hot Americana with cream and sugar. What a great way to start the day!

Camp Dakota had everything. Well, everything but a Letterbox. Now they have one of those too!

What do I mean by everything? In addition to tent and RV sites, they also have yurts and teepees to stay in. Plus a playground, a disk golf course, treasure-hunting, horseshoes, volleyball (we brought our badminton set and played badminton) and a place to shoot hoops.

One very popular spot was the Lucky Strike Mine. We purchased a bag of “dirt” from the office and while panning found 3 pieces of gold, pyrite, an arrowhead, (which they made into a necklace for us), 2 rose quartz, a tiger’s eye and lots of other cool stones.
The more adventurous took advantage of paintball, zip lines, the challenge ropes course and RC racing.

Some brought their quads and such to ride on the nearby ATV OHV trails.

Check out their web site for pictures and more information:

To find the Camp Dakota Letterbox, go to the owner-run office during office hours and simply ask for the Letterbox. They helped me place the box so they should know its location. (You are looking for a red Coca Cola tin.) The Office must be open to get this box.

Box is available Memorial Day - Labor Day 8 AM to 6 PM - 7 Days a week

Oh, did I say Camp Dakata had everything, well when I was there in August 2011 I saw lots of lumber up by the zip lines, who knows what John has planned next…

John and Jennifer, it was nice meeting you and thank you for hosting my first Letterbox
