** This is a 1.5 to 2 mile walk on a steady up hill dirt road.**

These boxes do not have ink in them. And there is only one log book, in the fourth box.

DIRECTIONS:
From the rotary in Greenfield, take the exit to 2 West, "The Mohawk Trail". Drive for 4.3 miles on 2 West. Turn right onto Frank Williams Road. Drive 1.1 miles then turn right onto Little Mokawk Road. Drive 0.2 miles and turn left onto Patten Road. Patten Road will become a dirt road with many twists. You will start seeing small blue signs directing people to High Ledges. When you come to a large wooden buliton board that displays the roads of Patten, notice the small blue High Ledges sign that points left. Turn left and continue down the road. You will drive pass an "Overflow Parking" area. Keep driving until you come to another High Ledges parking area on the left. Park your car.

From the parking lot, turn left onto Sanctuary Road. Go around a gate and go to the kiosk to get a trail map. There is a money box that requests $3.00 for adults.

Walk for aways on Sanctuary Road as it steadily inclines. The woods will open up into a field. Before you enter the field go right onto Waterthrush Trail. As the Waterthrush Trail enters into the woods, look to your right at a rock on a rock. Look behind the rock for a yellow lady's slipper. (High Ledges is known for its yellow lady's slippers.) Be on the look out for random poison ivy plants.

Go back to Sanctuary Road and go right. You will pass through another gate. When the path starts to decline, start looking for a rock wall on the right. When you get to the rock wall, turn right and walk along the right side of the wall to the first tree resting on the rock wall. Turn around, face the path and take one step. Notice a rectangle shaped rock about 4 inches wide in the mid to upper wall. Pull out the rock to find a pink lady's slipper.

Go back to the path and continue down Sanctuary Road. When you get to Dutch & Mary Trail on the right, stop. Turn around and take 10 steps back up the trail. On your right is a gnarled tree. Look in the gnarl for a waterthrush.

Continue on the Sanctuary Trail until you come to a chimney in the forest. Welcome to High Ledges. Enjoy the breath taking views of Shelburne Falls. Arms Cemetery is below where my good friend, Gem, is resting. (Coffee- noun, break fluid letterbox rests there , too.)

From the back of the chimney walk 17 steps up the path to the fork in the trail. Put you back against the pine tree in the middle of the fork. Take 30 steps down the path away from the High Ledges. Turn left to a tree with a low flat rock directly in front of the tree.( It may get covered with leaves in the fall). Under the rock is the Arms of Peace. Please double bag all the contents in this box.

You can follow Sanctuary Road back to your vehicle or explore.

Let me know if these boxes need repair. And send your adventures, the good, bad and the ugly.
