These boxes were planted in June, 2011 for our Eighth Annual Trails Day in Killingworth. The farm is located on Route 81, just .1 miles south of Route 148. Check out our beautiful new sign, designating this wonderful property!

Bosco Trail Letterboxes

A 3-mile hike roundtrip, on Parmelee Farm’s newest trail (thank you, Bruce Dodson).

Start your hike by the pond. Follow the blue/red/white trail across the field and into the woods. The red Parmelee Trail will branch off to the right first; when white branches to the right take it (at that point yellow is straight ahead and blue will head left).

Shortly, you will spot a rock cairn. Look left and see a rock wall. Walk along it, and when you step down off of a small ledge, look behind a trap door rock at the base of the wall for the first letterbox.

Continue on! Cross the red trail and a stream. After about 10 minutes, you will come to a ledge area on the left with a two-sister tree and a three-sister tree in front of it. Behind the two-sister, and behind a rock, you will find letterbox #2.

Keep going! After another 10 minutes of so, you will come to a rock pile that may have been charcoal-maker’s fireplace. Across the trail, to the left, is a beech tree. Look behind it for the last box. You may continue to the end of the white trail or reverse your steps, or if you have a map, take the red trail back for a more interesting hike!
