The Gaston Museum is located in Joinerville at 6562 Texas State Highway 64 West. You really can't miss it if you find your way to Joinerville because of the big oil derrick in front. The Gaston Museum has many exhibits from life in the oil field boom. Just down the road from the museum is the Daisy Bradford #3 discovery oil well that made East Texas a part of the oil boom of the 30's and 40's. The best exhibits of the museum are outside the main building. They have 3 buildings from the area, including White's Snack Shop which takes you back to a 1940's snack shop, an old oil field tent house furnished from the period, and a 1930's Dixie Service Station. So be sure and check it out.
From Hwy 64, enter the parking lot for the museum. As soon as you enter, notice the bush that kind of separates the parking lot into two parts. There is also an AC unit by the bush. The letterbox is hanging in a bag on the back side of the bush.
