S.P.O.K.E.S. Suicide Prevention Our Knowledge Erases Stigma.
This box has been planted in honor and recognition of a wonderfully successful event founded by a long time family friend and his wife.
They have taken an otherwise personal, private, and challenging situation to the general public in an effort to raise awareness and erase the stigma associated with mental illness and depression.
SPOKES is an annual charity bike ride to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention founded by Tanya and Jeremy Brittain six months after Jeremy's sister attempted to commit suicide after a long battle with depression. An avid cyclist, Jeremy wanted to participate in a charity bike ride to benefit the AFSP, but was unable to find one. With the support of family, friends and some very generous sponsors, SPOKES was born.
Our mission is to erase the stigma associated with suicide and mental illness. We hope that by sharing our story without shame, we will help others do the same.

For more information, to make a donation or register for the SPOKES RIDE visit www.spokesride.org

This box will be available annually for a limited time period surrounding the actual event day of THE SPOKES RIDE.
CLUES:
It only made sense to plant the box at the start off(and celebratory finish) point of THE RIDE... finding a secure spot was a challenge though- so we'll see how the box fares in this location.
STEALTH will keep this box safe longer...
Find your way to the BrickWalk in Fairfield... specifically enter the parking area at 1229 Post Road. At the far back side of the lot is a white good neighbor fence painted with green cyclists showing you the way...
Follow the cyclists until you come to A line of pines- amid these pines you will see the light.
Behind this lamp post tucked under some low lying branches and debris you will find what you seek.
This box contains a log book and handcarved stamp only... bring your own ink- an dplease remember to double bag before you rehide!

SPOKES RIDE 2010 was a great success, SPOKES RIDE 2011 even greater... won't you consider joining us for SPOKES RIDE 2012??
