Back when I was a kid (55+ years ago), it took a half of a day to drive to t2r's Grandparents 60 miles away. Interstate highways were just coming into vogue. Since they weren’t everywhere, going to his Grandma’s house was an adventure requiring the kids to ride in the back of a hot old station wagon down dusty, bumpy back roads for what seemed like forever. Now, we can drive it on the highway in an hour or less! My first plane trip was with him to Disney World back in 1982. It took 5 hours to fly from Baltimore to Orlando. Today, it takes just under 2. Yesterday, we flew from New Hampshire to St. Louis in a mere 3 hours (over 1100 miles). Twenty-five years ago, I never would have imagined becoming such a world traveler but thanks to the technologies of aviation I have! Adding up all the plane flights my own family has taken, we have flown over one complete trip around the world! Who from my generation could have ever dreamed doing such a feat? This box celebrates all the inventors, workers and travelers who dare to envision traveling to faraway places and getting there quicker and easier then going to his Grandma's house.

Find the marker from 1882 that answers both questions, “Which way is north?” and “Where are the airplanes?”. Head north to the fence and find the prize in the tree.

Alternative directions:
Drive straight in the cemetery. There is a large tree directly in front of you. From that tree, head east along the fence to the next tree. This was the closest, legal spot to the airport we could find. Perhaps, a trip around the world is in your future!

This is my 80th Traditional plant! Thanks to the planters and finders who make this hobby so much Fun!
