Anyone who has children in the Shelton Public School System knows about the portal. There is a student portal and a parent portal. Logging into the portal is the first challenge. I thought I had the correct password, the portal thought differently. It warned me that on the fifth try, I would be locked out. The portal doesn’t lie – it locked me out. Thus, I went to Shelton High to get myself back in good graces with the portal. Luckily, I worked with one of the SHS secretaries 25 years ago when we were in publishing together, so it was not as embarrassing as it could have been. Once into the portal, it lets you see your child’s homework assignments, long/short term projects that are due, grades to date, tardies and absences. All this is very important and helpful to know. But the coolest thing about the portal is that it lets you see what your child eats everyday. My high school senior tends to get salads, fries, panini’s and breakfast. It would be nice if she could eat a free breakfast at home. My 7th grader takes full advantage of the Intermediate school cafeteria. He gets himself a good lunch everyday and usually ends up owing money. And if that delinquent 50 cents is not paid, his report card will not be mailed home. I really wish the portal could take me to a tropical island. But for now, I’ll have to settle for science and algebra grades. Maybe a different password would do the trick……

Clues

As you enter woods from your car, head down the right hand branch of the loop. Follow the white blazed trail. Some trees were still down across the trail when this box was planted, but have since been cleaned up. Follow the trail as it curves to the left. When you come upon a 2 sister tree with an old wooden “fort” nailed to it, which is across from a tree with a white double blaze, walk straight ahead, off the trail. Find a 3 sister tree next to a 2 sister tree. The portal is in the 3 sister tree. Make sure to rehide it well or it will be totally exposed. Remember, no ink is with the box.
