According to a popular variant myth of the phoenix, the bird lives in Arabia for 500 years at the end of which, it burns itself and its nest. A new phoenix rises from the ashes, and in this case from the nearby microwave oven.
From 306, take Canyon Park Road into Canyon Park (no fee area). Pass Canyon Beach area (fee area) on the left. Continue to the parking area for Madrone Trail on the right . Standing in the parking lot, look overhead for utility wires. Follow the wires into the woods. Pass a set of double utility poles and continue following the wires to the next set of poles. Just past that set of poles, take 5 steps to the right to a scrubby tree missing one of its trunks. Look under the flat rock at the base. Please replace as described.
