GO AHEAD….GET MY GOAT
Institute Park
Salisbury Street
Worcester, MA
MISSING
This stamp and logbook are the creation of Jwanders. I was merely the planter.
To find Gompei, the official mascot of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, you should park on Salisbury Street, across from Institute Park.
Enter the park and look for the bandstand. To the right of the bandstand are two maple trees. Gompei is hiding in the base of the maple tree closest to the pond. Since this is a high traffic area and the hiding spot faces the street EXTREME STEALTH is required. After stamping in, please take care to rehide Gompei well, pushing him as far under the tree as he will go so he is not visible to the casual passerby.
By the way, the original Gompei the goat dates back to 1891 when he was entrusted to Japanese student , Gompei Kuwada. When problems arose in taking care of the creature Kuwada had the goat beheaded (gasp) and mounted.
