Once again replaced on September 18, 2015...new location, same stamp image.
Quabbin Reservoir, Gate 30, Off Rte 202, New Salem, MA
Clues: Easy
Terrain: Easy, what else would you expect from the lazy letterboxer?
Time: About an hour round trip
Sorry, no dogs are allowed at the Quabbin
From Rte 2 take exit 16 onto Rte 202 south, at the blinking yellow light take a left onto Rte 122. Go 2/10ths of a mile to the first right which is Gate 30. There is a small parking lot.
Walk around the gate and stay on the road until you get to the fork in the road at Bullard's Corner. Hmmm, how will you know you're at Bullard's Corner? Well, there used to be a sign telling you that but now on the opposite side of the street is a small sign that says "29-3". The foundation for Herrick's Tavern is still visible on the right if the vegetation isn't too high.
The fork is now hidden in a niche in the stone wall behind the 29-3 sign, in front of a large pine behind a chunk of a stump. There is no need to disturb any of the stones in the wall.
