If you want a hike where the Trees have attitudes and the Rocks pile up into ledges and groups holding their own , with the whisper of little waterfalls lulling the air , then head out to Chestnut Hill Preserve in Lyme.

I took a pretty butterfly with me that my niece had carved and gifted to me . She fluttered everywhere , ohh~ ed at the tree eating rocks, drank in the little waterfalls and continued along the pretty trail . At the top of a really short steep bank , the trail leveled out and as it turned left , she noticed on the right , a large two sister tree standing on top of some flat rocks just as if the tree was holding the rocks down .
Behind the tree in a tiny cave is Queenie , the Queen of Chestnut Hill .

If you continue on the trail , it goes down and crosses a lovely stream and eventually reaches the State Forest .. It is not a loop trail , so you must return the way you came .

I hope you like this Preserve as much as we do , it has everything and is 'new'
Thank you Donutz for hiking with me
have fun
