This is a huge day for me. I placed my very first box. Now it is just waiting for someone to come along and find it ;-)
Decided that Victoria was the perfect place for it. It is rich with history and lots of lovely old homes. Today I was on my way to Riverside park and found Evergreen Cemetery. Figured this was the right spot. This Cemetery has a historical Marker at the front and it even has a grave marker for Martin DeLeon (the founder of Victoria). Though it is not completely sure if he is actually buried at this location.
From Business 87 or Navarro ST. you will turn west on Red River. When you come to N. Vine, you will turn left. The cemetery that you want will be on your right. (there are like 3-4 seperate areas) You will want to turn into the main gate, it looks very old and very narrow. Drive down this lane until the road widens and you can park at this point. Walk back towards the entrance you drove through. Look at the cement curb. There are cut outs for lanes. Walk until you come to the fourth cut out. Look to your right. There will be a water faucet closest to Vine and a headstone with the name of "Wilson" on it closest to the parking area. With the faucet on your left and "Wilson" on your right walk forward. Walk until you see another water faucet. Then look toward the left and you will see a very large palm tree directly over a grave. Look between the base of the plam tree and the headstone. You will find what you are seeking. Enjoy!
