Tanglewood
Grab your compass and the urge to climb up onto a rock ledge for a view . The trail is not blazed well to the top , so the letterbox is planted midway up and easy to get to . The fun is to continue on and up to the top but without a blazed trail I did not want to take folks up for the hunt . This is a rather new conservation area so it needs many feet to travel it and make the trails easier to follow . The trail to the letterbox is noticeable and easy to travel . I hope you enjoy the little walk through the tangle of Laurel . It must be lovely in the spring .
Tanglewood Trails can be entered for hiking through a 500 foot path only about 25 feet wide , adjacent to number 40 Spring Rock Road . Follow the trail into the woods . This whole trail is full of Laurel with its twisty trunks . Soon cross a wet area on cinder blocks and wood planks and a small bridge . If you obtain a map , you will see that we follow the A trail to the camping area which has a wood duck nest box up on a tree . At this point continue straight and the map calls this part Trail B . As the trail gets steeper and you begin to climb up towards the rocky ledge , look for a large two sister tree on the left side of the trail about half way to the top . A large rock is by its side and directly across the trail is another tilted large rock with a tiny cave on the upside . At this time , a dead Laurel twisted trunk is also guarding the cave .

Now , if you have your compass , continue up to the ridge top for a good view . The map shows this is a loop but we could not find any blazes to follow . Maybe this is a work in progress . Of course , I wanted to plant on the top of the ridge, but without blazes I decided to let you choose if you want to go on an adventure or return to your car ..
