Welcome to Long Eddy, New York! (If you are trying to find Long Eddy, we are on NY State Route 97 between the towns of Hancock and Callicoon on the Delaware River.) Have fun looking for this letterbox. Keep an eye out for critters. There are the occasional rattlesnakes and wandering black bears in the area.

Clues:

1. Park your car at the Basket Historical Society building on NY Route 97.
2. Walk north along Route 97 to Kinney Road.
3. Turn left at Kinney Road and walk one block.
4. Turn right on River Road (there is no sign) and cross the Pea Brook bridge. (You may hear Nate’s rooster crow.)
5. Follow River Road approximately ½ mile to the gate of the Bouchoux Woods State Forest Preserve.
6. Enter the Preserve and follow the trail for about ½ mile. You will go under the Bridge Tree and past the Snoring Tree (listen carefully – if it is windy you will hear it.)
7. At the first major trail intersection, turn left. (There will be a State Forest Preserve sign at the intersection.)
8. Continue on the trail to the end. You will come to a clearing just before the railroad tracks.
9. Turn around. You will see another State Forest Preserve sign on the right side of the trail. Walk to the base of the sign.
10. Take 10 paces back on the trail to the base of a fallen log.
11. Go along the fallen log to where it meets an oak tree. Look behind the trunk of the oak tree. Congratulations, you have found the letterbox!
